An online exhibition and artist's talk of Anita Arliss's latest hyperreal oil paintings and specific information on how to commission a portrait by the artist.
My hyperreal paintings combine external and invented realities through the layering of multiple media. I paint intimate portraits and fleeting images of spontaneous events.
Before I arrive at a final image, the works go through many transformations. I don’t work from sketches; my paintings are not planned. I employ shape, color and light to create imagery that combines old and new ideas.
I explore the multiplicities and notions of “real” in contemporary painting. My images mix figuration and abstraction. Highly saturated colors, broken up shapes, and dispersed light describe confident figures. My figures feel happy just doing what they do
